The Yorke Peninsula Division of General Practice was established in 1993 with the aim of representing the needs of the region's general practitioners and their communities. The Division operates five days per week and has more than 20 staff working on Divisional activities.

The Division network is involved in a wide range of activities including health promotion, early intervention and prevention strategies, chronic disease management, medical education and workforce support.

By delivering local health solutions through general practice, we aim to ensure all Australians can access a high quality health system.

We work with GP's and their practice staff to cover a range of health related issues and we are the focal point for the dissemination of information. These include governance, prevention and early intervention, access, integration, manage chronic disease, general practice support, quality support, consumer focus and workforce support. We have a strong focus on mental health, immunisation, asthma, palliative care, diabetes prevention, asthma and health planning.

We continue to strive to improve the cost effectiveness of our health service through the on-going integration and reduction of duplicated services.

The Division employs a number of clinicians to form a multi disciplinary team, who are all practice based and support rural GPs in their role as primary health care providers and establish access to allied health services that were not previously available. Relationships have been strengthened and as such, this collaborative approach to health care has improved health outcomes for the Yorke Peninsula community.
