Asthma Desktop Tool
The asthma desktop tool has been developed by the Yorke Peninsula Division of General Practice Inc. The development of the guide was funded through a National Asthma Community Grant.

The guide is a self-supporting, A5 size, two-sided flip chart with educational information for the person with asthma on one side and health professional current asthma guidelines on the other.

The aim is to promote consistent asthma messages re current guidelines to medical/allied health personnel and improve and standardise asthma information used and disseminated to consumers.

The Asthma desktop tool consists of four sections

The first section

The cover which has a good diagram of the lungs which can be used to explain what Asthma is.

The second section

Is used to prompt the health professional when educating patients about Asthma.

The third section

Contains Asthma assessment, Asthma emergency management and guides for inhaled corticosteroids doses.

The final section

Containing questions that could be asked during the consult and acknowledgements.
